Minnie Mouse Hat

I have decided that I hate black yarn!!!!! It is so hard to see the stitches unless you have a bright light shinning on the piece that you are working on. It has taken me two days to finish the little hat and I don't really like how I sewed the ears on. So I have tried to take them off which hasn't worked. I think I will just leave it for awhile and go back to it maybe I just need to take a break from the black yarn. So I have taken the break from the black yarn thing and made a little newborn cream color beanie. The yarn that I have made it out of is from Hobby Lobby and it is cotton. I'm thinking that I will either put a pink ribbon or flower on the hat. Maybe I should just start making spring hats I know its is only December and we have four or five months yet before it will be nice out but need something to left my spirits right now. I think I will make some Christmas cookies I know that will help. Have to make some for gifts at work anyways. So guess I better get started. Now I need to go to the store! NO SUGAR!!!! Maybe I better take inventory of what all I'm going to need to start baking. Think my husband will put up our Christmas Tree? He might do that but I would hate to see how it was decorated. Check out my facebook wall https://www.facebook.com/CrochetedJustForYou
The little cream colored beanie hat is finished just need to add a bow or flower to the hat.

HATS FOR SALE!!!!

Ok. I have some hats and booties for sale on Etsy. Have just sold one the Owl Hat. So I have decided to take some of my other hats to a upscale resale shop for women and children that is here locally and see if they can sell some of the hats. I called her first to make sure that she was interested and of course she said that it just depended on what the hats were and if they were something different than what she already had. HMMMM I thought I bet my little Owl Hat, Sock Monkey Hat, and little Munchkin Hat are differnent. So I took the hats over to her, she loved them and wanted to put all three out on her floor. If these sell there I will take more over. I thought I would play it safe and just start with three. Wish me luck I hope I can start selling them there at Chic Boutique and on Etsy.

I made the eyes on this owl green, with a white crocheted bow by one of the ears. Looks so cute. probably will put both on Etsy this week. Will take a picture and post it when I add it to my etsy shop.

Couple New Hats

Have made a couple new hats.. The pink Owl hat I made for someone that my daughter works with. The other two I think I will put on Etsy to sell. The red and gray would be good for someone that is a OSU fan, that would like to dress their little one up for the OSU games. The Sock Monkey Hat has a diaper cover pattern also have been thinking about making the diaper cover to match. Have sold one of the Owl Hats this week on Etsy. Wish all the other ones would sell also. Maybe they will guess everything just takes time. Sometimes I get to antsy with this stuff.

Owl Hat

These hats are so adorable and really easy to make. Didn't take very long at all to make the two hats. I had some extra Lion Brand yarn left over from one other project that I hace been working on so I thought maybe I should try to use some of that yarn up . Wasn't really sure how it would turn out. But I must say they look pretty good ! I did make two newborn hats and I think that I will make a couple hats that are bigger. I got the pattern from daisycottagedesigns.blogspot. It was a free pattern. Thinking about adding them to my etsy store http://www.etsy.com/shop/VickisCrochetShop. May wait till I have a few more hats before I add them.

Thanksgiving

Well Thanksgiving is almost here. I have just picked my check up from work went to the bank. Now I have to go to the grocery store for all the things that we will need for our meal tomorrow. I want to do it now cause the stores will be to busy later today. Seems like everyone likes to wait till the last minute to get things namely me!!! I have my list all made out just need to grab a bite to eat so I'm not hungry when I go, then I will buy everything that I think looks good, a big no no!! :) I might anyways :) Don't really have to bake anything like pies my mom and daughter are taking care of that department we just have to take care of the main course and side dishes. Thanksgiving Dinner went pretty good once we got started!!! My husband got a late start on the turkey figures!! so the turkey wasn't finished till 5:00 I wanted it done by 2:00 or 3:00 p.m. , My daughter calls and tells me she has a flat tire and she is on the highway is waiting on her dad to come and change the tire. But she has to drive back to her house and change cars cause she doesn't want to drive on the tire that is going to be put on her car. So she didn't get to our house till 6:30 which she has all the pies for dessert. Then my husbands son has to pickup his two boys which took an hour!! I think the only ones that were on time was my mom and my son and his family. So we all waited on everyone so we could eat together, once they all got here we ate I think it was 7:00p.m. then we get a phone call from my husbands granddaughter and she told her dad that her grandma (my husbands ex wife ) was going to bring her to our house which is fine, but his ex wife came in and joined the party! I was nice and offered her some food and dessert and asked her to stay awhile. What a night. I have a headache ! . I don't think I'm going to do this again for a while.

Santa Hat and Booties

Well I got into the Christmas mood this weekend I made a Santa Hat and one pair of Booties. This hat would be a great photo prop for a little one to have his or her picture take in. They will fit a newborn to 3 months. The Hat and booties are made out of Caron Yarn which is so soft. The yarn is 100% Acrylic. Circumference of hat is 14 inches and 26 inches long including the pompom the booties are 3 1/2 inches long. I found the hat pattern on the internet I just didn't do the color changes like what was in the pattern. Got it from neannersshop. The booties is a pattern from Annies Attic.

Thanksgiving

Well it is just seven days till Thanksgiving!!! I still have to get the turkey and everything else that we will need for Thanksgiving day. We will have turkey (of course), dressing, cranberry sauce (homemade) , gravy , mash potatoes, sweet potato, corn that we froze this summer, choc. pie that great grandma is making, pumpkin pies my daughter is making , so I guess I need to make so munches that we can have while we wait on dinner. I'm taking two days off next week so I can clean the house really good. Want to shampoo the carpet this weekend so don't think I will be doing much crocheting unless its late at night. Need to make a list so I won't forget what I want to do as far as the in depth cleaning. The light everyday stuff I will make my hubby do it. He will have his very own honey do list!!!! Just what every man needs :). Plus my computer area is a mess so guess I will have to clean that area I don't want anyone even near the computer trying to clean it for me. I wouldn't be able to find anything for months. I did find some cute little hat patterns the other day. Hello Kitty hat and a Minnie Mouse Hat. I found them on mray1976.blogspot.com. Want to try to make them soon.

Baby Booties

Have relisted my booties again. I have opened an etsy shop trying to sell some of the baby slippers on there also. It is http://www.etsy.com/shop/VickisCrochetShop, I know the name isn't very creative but I just cant think of a good shop name. Maybe later. Thinking if they don't sell this time maybe I should make a hat and afghan to match them or just a hat. I plan on making more but want to see if these will sell alone. Maybe I should just plan on making a hat for them then I can add it to the auction on ebay when its over. I think that the booties are really cute. Hope they sell. The green booties are made out of Bernat softee yarn and I made the pink ones made out of cotton yarn.

Earflap Hat

This hat is a 3-month size, and is very easy. The pattern is from allicrafts.blogspot.com. She does have a newborn size also. The pattern calls for worsted weight yarn , I used Red Heart Yarn. I'm thinking about trying to use a softer yarn for the hat maybe Caron. The Red Heart worsted weight yarn did make the hat a little thicker, I think that the Caron yarn wouldn't be as thick. For the braids , I cut 12 pieces of yarn about 16 inches long. Put 6 pieces together and pulled through the loop on the tip of the earflap. Then braided. Tied a knot at the end and trimmed the fringe. You wouldn't have to put a braid on the hat if you didn't want to. I think that they are kind of cute. But I plan on making some with out the braids also. I did do a crab stitch around the hat for trim , you would want to do that before adding the braids.

Baby Hats

Have been making more baby hats. This time I will try to sell them. Maybe make some extra cash for my hobby :) Have already sold six hats, easy money. A project that doesn't take long either. I have a total of eight hats made up right now along with some booties and mitts for newborns. I also think that I will make up some baby afghans and crochet hats & booties to match. Would like to try to crochet a simple sweater (which I have never done). Will post more pics as I finish them.

Purse Handles and Baby Hats

I have been so busy ! Have been crocheting items for other people was trying to crochet a baby hat an blanket for our fall festival that we have. The hat was done but not the baby blanket. But I have it finished now so I'm ready for nest year!!! :) Guess that is what I should have done this last winter was work on the blanket and hat then I would have been ready. This last week I crocheted two sock monkey hats for my husbands cousins new baby twin boys. Now I'm making some baby hats for my great niece, her baby is due in January. I have made my baby hats for charity and also some scarves. Plan on dropping them off this week. Then I will start on the adult hats. Went to the craft store bought buttons and a purse handle, but I didn't take the purse!!!! and of course I thought I could just eye the size I needed for my windmill bag,bad idea its to small!!! so now I have to take it back. I will take the purse with me this next time I should have listened to myself. I bought the Sock Monkey Hat pattern on etsy. The etsy shop is www.etsy/shop/Prolesik. She has a lot of cute pattern on etsy. The little Curly Top Beanie hat pattern I also bought off of www.etsy/shop/littleabbee. The ear flap hat pattern I printed from allicrafts.blogspot.com.

All This Yarn!!!!

I have finally decided to do something with all this yarn that I have. I have started making premie/neborn hats, booties and mitts. Then I have started crocheting scarfs and will do some hats for children and adults. I plan on donating all of them to a charity. I'm sure that someone out there could maybe use something warm for the winter, and maybe a new baby could use a new hat. I'm actually having a lot of fun doing this and I feel really good about donating these hats ect to a charity. I don't know why I didn't think of this before. Plus just maybe I will do some lapghans for a nursing home. Now I just have to figure out who the charity is and which nursing home I could donate some lapghans to.

I AM THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE

I AM THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE
by Genie Keller

I was born in 1776 on the 4th of July
Amid strife and the burning question of, why?

My aim to succeed in every way
To Bless my people with hope everyday.
My every word took a solemn beginning
The anticipation of futures and also of winning.

I was written with skill from far above
With meaningful words, blended with love.
The pattern was struck into every mind
To explain what was there for all mankind.
The Truth of the Right belongs to all men
To protect it and Guard it, secured to the end.

Now with hope in our hearts and the will of the state
With life, liberty and pursuit of happiness,
OR, our fate
I pledged to each person, the promise of peace
For Loyalty and Independence never to cease.
I wrote to protect us in all of our Rights
And grant us much strength through out all of the nights.

Company Coming!!!

Our three granddaughter came to our house Saturday and spent the night with us.
It was so much fun to have them here. They are growing up so fast. The girls and I went over to great grandmas house so she could visit with them for a little bit. The girls are starting to tower over grandma didn't realize how tall they had gotten till I saw them standing by her. I had made a doll blanket out of some left over crocheted squares that I had and gave the baby blanket to Bridgette for her dolls . I still have a bunch left over so maybe she will get a few more baby blankets. I have been trying to sort through all the yarn and projects that I have started crocheting, what a mess!!!

We grilled cheeseburgers, chicken breast and made some mac n cheese. Our oldest loves mac n cheese so that was about all she would eat! After supper we walked over to the store and bought some ice cream sandwiches then later we had some strawberrys and shortcake with cream hmmmmm .

Grandpa fell asleep! So the two younger ones played games on the computer and Brooklynn and I watched a movie. What a nice evening. Thank you to my daughter for giving me these three precious grandchildren.

Well a few more cups of coffee and I am off to the backyard to work in the flower beds. My husband started spreading the mulch but didn't get to far, so I'm going out to try to finish. I'm off work till July 5 !!!! Now maybe I can actually get a few things done. :)

Windmill Bag

The Windmill Bag is almost done. All need is my handles which I haven't bought yet but intend to soon. The pattern is really simple and easy. Its just putting it together that is sort of tricky. I had to take some scrap yarn and tie it together so I could see how the strips were to go together. After I got the strips temporarily together I could then see how it would look.

I just used Sugar'n Cream Naturals, Sonoma print. It is a 4 ply cotton yarn. The bag turned out great for what I want to use it for. The pattern calls for Plymouth yarn Boku and Galway Yarn, you will also need purse handles I saw some at our local craft store. I found the Boku yarn on Yarn.com and GalwayYarn on Yarncountry.com. Then next time I make one , I do think that I will use the yarn that was suggested in the pattern.
The stitches are just a hdc and fpsc and bpsc. So easy!!! plus it doesn't need a lining with this stitch. I'm not really ready to get the sewing machine out yet! I havent' sewed in years not even sure I remember how to work the sewing machine!:)

My Sarabell Bag is Finished!!

My Sarabell Bag is Finished!!

Well lets say its sort of like the Sarahbells bag. The one on SarahSweetHearts.blogspot.com doesn't have a handle just a button for the closure. I was pondering the idea of just adding a wooden handle to it but decided just to add a crocheted handle to the bag. This bag in perfect for some of my smaller crocheting projects. It beats caring around a ugly Walmart bag!

All I did was add six single crochet rows above the two dbl crocheted rows. I chained twelve and skipped fourteen singles crochets for the openings on both sides. You could make them large or small don't think the size really matter just what ever you want for your bag. So far it is prefect!! but will have to make one larger so I can carry more yarn in it when I'm working on a larger crochet project.

Right now I'm starting on a bag designed by Cindy Adams called Windmill Bag,I found the pattern in Crochet! September 2010. It is four rectangular strips joined in a pinwheel pattern and conected to together with a single crochet. The bag the she has designed is really pretty, has bright colors. She used a medium worsted weight wool/silk yarn and medium worsted weight wool yarn. But again I'm being different I'm using something that I can throw in the washer if I want or need to. Plus I not all that keen on bright colors for me. So I'm using Sugar'n Cream Naturals, Sonoma print. It is a 4 ply cotton yarn. I really like working with this yarn.

Sarahbells Bag

I couldn't sleep so was web surfing one night found this really great blog. She has tons of different patterns. I love blogs like this. I found this really cute pattern for a bag, so I have started crocheting a new bag.The bag can made so many different ways small to a large bag. They one that she has on her blog has a button to close the bag , but I'm thinking of buying a wooden handle for mine. I plan to make a smaller bag for my loose items that I will be carrying in it. this pattern is free to download and is easy to make. I used Sugar' n Creams yarn in warm brown. I can't wait till it is all finished. I hope to buy my handle for the bag this weekend so I can start using it.
This is what it looks like right now. Will post a picture of the finished bag.

You can get the pattern for the bag at SarahSweetHearts.blogspot.com.

Spring Flower Festival at Kingwood Center

A Day at Kingwood Center

Ahhhhhh finally no rain, a little sunshine just enough to make it nice out. Perfect day to go to the Spring Flower Festival 2011 at Kingwood. All the tulips and other spring flowers are coming up. I think that the tulips will be up for mothers day at Kingwood! That is what Kingwood is famous for.

While we were walking around looking at all the activities I saw my granddaughter Brooklynn she was with her great grandma and great aunt. Then I saw my daughter in-law and grandson Evan. I also saw some people that I work with. Guess quite a few people were taking advantage of the nice weather.

My Husband belongs to an orchard club. They had some flower for sale there.I think that they probably sold almost all of them. Many other plant clubs were there selling there plants. At the end of the month there will be a perennial sale I usually I try to make that sale.Hopefully I wont have to work that day.

A couple had two Alpaca's. They are so cute! A lady was spinning alpaca yarn. She dyes the yarn herself. The yarn is so soft. Just wish it wasn't so expensive. Would love to work with some.

After we saw the alpacas there was a male Peacock over by one of the buildings. They are so beautiful! Of course my husband thought he could make a sound so the bird would show his feathers off. I don't know who this man is that is standing by me !!! LOL Of course the Peacock just walked away from us ! :)

I went to the greenhouse they always have tons of plants for sale. House plants and flower bed plants. I bought a little daffodil for me and an Asian Lilly for my mother, for mothers day.

After we got home I did start digging up some of my plants that have gotten to big. started dividing some of them up giving some away that I don't have room for. Still have more to dig up probably will do that this week end. Cant wait to see what our back yard will look like this summer.

Flower Tote Bag

Have made all the squares for the tote bag, Crocheting them together was fairly easy and quick. I actually had the bag all together in two days.
Would have been sooner but I have to work so could only work on it when I was watching TV in the evening.

The pattern is kind of tricky when placing of the squares, looks like a heart on one side. So you have 8 on one side and on the other side you only have 5.
On the side that has five you only crochet four flower squares with one granny square in the middle. The three granny squares that are on the other side (which is two on the side and one on the bottom), these three granny squares wrap around to the other side. They are crocheted to the flower squares.

Instead of crocheting my squares like the pattern, I crocheted them together. So my trim on my bag is a little different. I just did a slip stitch on the front of the bag. Which doesn't look that bad and was really easy to add.

Then for the button, use size F crochet hook. chain 2, 6 single crochet in second chain from hook don't join, mark first stitch. Then you just do 2 single crochet around should have should have 12 stitches. then single crochet in each stitch. Skip first stitch, single crochet in next stitch keep doing this around to end. You have a button!!! How easy love it.

The handles you can make as long as you want I chained 85 and then did a single crochet on the handle.

I'm pleased with the way it has turned out. I m also surprised as to how strong it feels. There is a plus also if it gets dirty throw in the washer and let it air dry.

A New Project

I have started something new for me. I usually make afghans, hats, scarfs, dog sweaters. Was talking to my sister the other day and she asked me if I could make a tote. Told her I have never done that before so she gave me the website for the pattern, looks really easy. In the mean time I found a tote pattern in one of my crochet mags that I get through the mail. Soooo I thought I would make the one I found in Mays 2011 Crochet! magazine Dress It Up -- Flower Tote Bag Design by Nancy Brown. I'm using cotton yarn for this tote. The granny squares are easy but I'm really confused about the joining round you don't fasten off the flower sq. you are suppose join the squares together by crocheting them. So I decided to just join them together like I do all my other squares. I will have to read the instructions and practice on some extra yarn that I have. This will give me a good excuse to make another one :)

Rain Rain Go Away

Oh when is the rain going to quit! I want to go out and play in the dirt! I can't wait to go out and work in the flower beds. I have spring flowers popping up all over. Two weeks ago it was 60 out and I did work some outside. We have to redo some of the flower beds. Had some construction done outside this winter and alot of the flower beds were covered in piles of dirt so will have to move the dirt around. We also want to put some new landscape logs down and finish the front flower bed with a border also. I think working outside in the beds is one of my favorite things beside crocheting. The biggest problem is trying to make the big dogs understand they can't walk in the flower beds. They see me go in them so they follow right along! Guess they will have to stay inside when I'm out working this spring.

New Sweater for Rupert!!!

Found a really cute doggie sweater on Crochet Soiree for Rupert. This crochet pattern is really easy. I didn’t have the bulky yarn that it called for so I just used what I had. I had to make some adjustments to it. Used a smaller crochet hook, so the squares were a little smaller had to add an extra square on each row and an extra row too. Can’t wait to see what it is going to look on him. HPIM1184

It will be finished tonight. I’m sure Rupert wont be happy when I put the sweater on him. Smile

I'm not sure if they will like them or not but have got to use some of this excess yarn up!!! Begining to pile up. Pretty soon we wont have a bedroom it will be a yarn room. I think I might be a yarn horder!!! :) LOL. I hope not. I have found a cute scarf pattern for the youngst its a puppet scarf! Looks really easy. Hope to start on it this weekend. Have been kind of busy this last year so haven't really been able to post anything. Just had to house sided ,insulated , an new roof. The house should stay warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. I hope!! Will post some pictures of my new projects.
